1964 Studebaker Zip Van

You don't see one of these on the road everday! A '64 Zip Van. These were the last Studebaker's manufactured in South Bend. The US Postal Service used them as mail delivery vehicles. I've never even seen one in person, except for at the Studebaker National Museum.

Here is the owners story:
I found the van at a building down the street from were I work. They were moving and had the van for sale. Me and a co worker bought the van because we thought "it was cool". The owner said it had not run in 12 years! So we towed it to the shop were I work and only then found out what it was. We removed the gas tank and had it boiled out. We removed the carb and cleaned it out, removed the spark plugs and cleaned them. We installed a fresh battery and had to pick the ignition lock (it has no key). The engine started right up!! The brake pedal went to the floor so we put some brake fluid in it and the peddle became firm!! We put 2 quarts type F trans fluid in and the van was driveable! We drove it around the lot and wondered what to do with it. We both agreed that this should go to some one that has the the time to fix it up. The license plate says 1973 and the last tag on it says 1983. An electric lift gate was added because the last owner was in a wheel chair. It was used in a carpet repair business for a while then was stored for all these years.
